Backyard Elopement Party
Pam & Abir’s backyard elopement party was quirky and personal. They recently bought a new home and didn’t want to shell out for a large wedding. Instead of renting out a wedding venue they held the wedding at the backyard of their new home. They painted some very cool geometric patterns on the walls in the backyard and invited family and close friends to join them, even the dog. The concrete walls made an awesome backdrop for some portraits of the two of them.
They had confetti canons for after they said “I do” – I love the photo of the grumpy bulldog being showered with confetti. For food at the reception, Pam & Abir went to their favourite restaurants and shared their favourite dishes family style. Pam decorated the table with personalized tags and succulents for each guest, and beautiful bright flowers. The blue and white theme carried through the entire wedding, and was very fresh and cheerful.
We took their portraits around the neighbourhood, just wandering around Trinity Bellwoods park and around Dundas Street W. They sported sneakers the whole time, and got ready together for a stress free day. I love it when couples get ready together. I found the separation and build up so stressful when I got married, I would have been way less traditional if I did it again. I love these weddings, they always come up at the last minute, so I never know when they will cross my path, but I’m always excited when I get an email.
This wedding was also featured over on intimate weddings – if you’re planning an intimate wedding it’s a great resource for ideas and to see what others have done.
